About the visa
Child routes allow children to join parents in the UK as dependants of points-based workers or via family routes to British/settled parents, and include a Child Student route for study at independent schools.
Eligibility & key rules
Children are usually under 18, not leading an independent life, and supported/accommodated by the parent(s). Evidence of relationship and parental responsibility is required. Financial thresholds vary by route.
What you can / cannot do
Permitted: live with parent(s), attend school, and (for Child Student) study at an independent school. Not permitted: independent living or forming a separate family unit.
Fees, documents & process
Apply online, attend biometrics, and submit passports, birth/relationship evidence, accommodation and financial documents, and (for Child Student) the acceptance/CAS from the school.
