UK immigration, made simple.

A job, a degree, a partner, a business: the UK has a defined route for each, and you know what it asks before you apply. Most are applied for online, and your family can come with you.

Why United Kingdom

Why the UK

Five years of living here is the usual road to settling for good, and researchers can do it in three. There is also a route that needs no employer and no job offer at all.

Five years, then you can stay for good

Live in the UK for five years on a Skilled Worker or comparable visa and you can apply for indefinite leave to remain. Keep time outside the UK under 180 days in any 12 months and the clock keeps running.

Apply online, prove your identity by phone

You apply online for a Skilled Worker visa. Many people prove who they are by scanning their passport in the UK Immigration: ID Check app rather than booking an appointment at a visa centre.

Your partner and children come too

On many work routes a husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner and children under 18 can apply as dependants. A family linking code ties the applications together. Some occupations set extra conditions.

A visa with no employer attached

Global Talent is for leaders and potential leaders in academia, research, arts, culture and digital technology. No sponsor, no job offer. Extensions run from one to five years and you pick the length.

Research done abroad still counts

Researchers and academics on Global Talent can apply to settle after three years, and time spent outside the UK doing research counts towards that three years.

Finish the degree, then stay and look

A Graduate visa lets you stay on after an eligible UK course with no job offer needed. Two years for applications on or before 31 December 2026, 18 months after that, three years with a doctorate.
