About the visa

The Student visa allows international students aged 16+ to study at licensed UK providers on eligible courses with limited work rights during term-time and the option to progress to the Graduate visa after successful completion.

Eligibility & key rules

Requires a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed sponsor, sufficient funds for tuition and maintenance, and meeting the English language requirement. Additional rules apply for those aged 16–17.

What you can / cannot do

Permitted: study your approved course, work within permitted hours, volunteer, and undertake work placements as allowed. Not permitted: self-employment, professional sports/entertainment, or accessing public funds.
