Eligibility & key rules

Both partners must be 18+, free to marry or form a civil partnership, and intend to leave the UK after the ceremony. Applicants must show funds and accommodation for their stay and may need to give notice at a UK register office.

What you can / cannot do

Permitted: give notice and marry/form a civil partnership at a licensed venue, and undertake tourism. Not permitted: work, study, bring dependants on the same application, or switch into a spouse/partner route from within the UK.

Apply online before travel, attend biometrics, and provide passport, relationship evidence and venue plans, funds and accommodation evidence, plus proof of being free to marry. Typical decisions are made within a few weeks.
